They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera Book Review

Hello everyone! Hope your all having a lovely Friday! I’ve wanted to talk about this book for so long, because it just hit my heart and impacted me so deeply, I needed to talk about it. Today we will be talking about one of my new favorites, They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera.

They Both Die At The End-

So I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing, which I love because it just means I’ll have no expectations going into a book, and I can just read it for what it is. I was looking for a new audio book to listen to and this was one of the few I could actually borrow from my library, so I said sure and borrowed it, and I am SO glad I did.

In this story, we follow two seventeen year old boys, Mateo and Rufus, who both get a call a little after midnight from a company called Death-Cast, telling them sadly, that they were going to die at some point that day. Mateo and Rufus start off as complete strangers, but when they both decide to download the Last Friend app, they decided to make each others ‘end days’ one to remember for the rest of their very short lives. They agree to live a lifetime for their very last day.

First off, the voice actors were amazing, I loved them. I also really loved the writing. It got me so sucked in and I of course always love when a book can have me totally engrossed in a book.

Now, I loved these characters so much, and to know that their going to die before they even die, it’s heartbreaking. Your scared at every turn whether or not this is it for the boys and I found myself constantly wanting to pause the audiobook and try and prepare myself for what was about to possibly happen. But it never happened when I thought it would. Then, when your completely off guard and calm, it happens and your just left sitting their with your jaw dropped like, what just happened????. It was honestly heartbreaking, but the bond the boys form, is beautiful and amazing and I think that only adds to the heartbreak.

I loved this book so much I would love to read another totally different story set in this world where this takes place. The whole idea of people calling you after midnight and telling you today is your last day is crazy as is, and so many different styles of story could come through this idea.

Have any of you read this book? If so what are your thoughts? I hope I definitely persuaded some people to read this one.
