Good morning and Happy Sunday guys! I have been trying to get back into a reading mood, but after Harry Potter month I just completely fell behind on reading, so I have really stayed focused on it this weekend and I have scheduled posts and read quite a bit, all while being a little under the weather. So in today’s post, I wanted to show you what I picked up from the library this month and hopefully this will motivate me to actually pick up these books at some point.
Gunslinger Girl – Lyndsay Ely
In this novel that James Patterson presents, we follow a teen named Serendipity who lives in the future wild west? I don’t really understand much of that part, but she’s like a cowgirl type of character during the Second Civil War. Anyways, we follow her as she tries and escapes her abusive home life and pursue a life of fame and fortune in a new city.
Honestly, I don’t know if this is going to be for me, but the single handed reason why I picked up this book was because it gave me serious Red Dead Redemption vibes, and I have been obsessed with that game lately. Hopefully it’s a decent read and satifies my current need for all things wild wild west.
Tiger Lily – Jodi Lynn Anderson
As the title says, we follow Tiger Lily from Peter Pan before Wendy came, and then eventually when she does show up. We look more in depth into her home-life and her relationship we had with Peter and basically how Wendy screws everything they had going lol. I have heard mixed things about this book, everyone I know that has read it has had some type of issue with it. I started it, and I mean it’s not horrible, but it’s not mind blowing either. I don’t know, seems like an easy read so I might finish this this weekend.
A Very Large Expanse of Sea – Tahereh Mafi
Aghhh I am so excited to read this book! We follow a 16 year old girl named Shirin, who is Muslim, and we follow her in this story in 2002, one year after 9/11. We basically follow her experiences of being a Muslim girl in this very serious state that the United States was in after this terrible attack. I have heard so many people rave about this book, and this would actually be my first read from Mafi, so I am very excited to see how this story plays out.
The Cruel Prince – Holly Black
Another one I have seen mixed reviews on, and oh lord. Are they mixed. It seems like people either LOVE this series, or they HATE this series. I have seen a lot more people love it than not, so I want to of course be apart of the discussion.
The Astonishing Color of After – Emily X.R. Pan
I don’t think I’m going to get to this one this month, but maybe. I did pick it up so who knows. In this story we follow our mc who lost her mother due to suicide. She travels to Taiwan to learn more about her family and her history, and reveals some deep family secrets. I think this is going to be a real emotional one, and it will definitely be a book I will have to be in a sappy mood for.
Well these are all the Books I got from the Library this month! Do you guys borrow from your local library? If yes, what did you borrow this month?
