Book Review: Fumbled (Playbook #2) by Alexa Martin

Hello everyone! How is this month of June treating you so far? It’s been going pretty well for me. I’ve been getting a good amount of reading done and I’ve almost hit my 2019 reading goal of 40 books! This book today I’ve been wanting to review because I’ve actually been enjoying the series so far. They aren’t amazing books that are always going to be my favorites, but the two that I have read have really been enjoyable, hopefully this post will lead you to try them out as well! Let’s get onto the review!

Single-mother Poppy Patterson moved across the country when she was sixteen and pregnant to find a new normal. After years of hard work, she’s built a life she loves. It may include a job at a nightclub, weekend soccer games, and more stretch marks than she anticipated, but it’s all hers, and nobody can take that away. Well, except for one person.

TK Moore, the starting wide receiver for the Denver Mustangs, dreamt his entire life about being in the NFL. His world is football, parties, and women. Maybe at one point he thought his future would play out with his high school sweetheart by his side, but Poppy is long gone and he’s moved on.

When Poppy and TK cross paths in the most unlikely of places, emotions they’ve suppressed for years come rushing back. But with all the secrets they never told each other lying between them, they’ll need more than a dating playbook to help them navigate their relationship.

Okay first thing I loved about this book was the family values. I loved that although there was some drama in the beginning, they still quickly became a family unit and it was so enjoyable to read. I thought Martin wrote this so delicately compared to the first book, Intercepted. There wasn’t as much drama throughout which was great, where as the other book it was like every chapter was a new issue.

Second, no hashtags! Throughout the first book there was random hashtags sprinkled throughout and I hated it! This book… no hashtags! Thank you! haha.

Third, Ace and TK’s relationship. So cute. So adorable. I literally wish I could read it forever.

So, I did notice something between the first book and this one, it has a very similar layout. I noticed by page 50-60, they are a couple. By page 100 they are pretty intimate, and by page 250 there’s an issue. By the last 3 pages, the problem is completely solved. Very similar book layout, which made things kind of predictable based on where I was page wise.

Also, another rushed ending! The ending was so rushed, but at least in this book the issue that was created was a pretty legitimate issue that Poppy felt needed to be addressed. In the first book, the whole conflict at the end was kind of ridiculous, so I’m glad we got a good reason in this book!
