Hello to all of my bookish friends. Since we are already a little over halfway through the year, I wanted to talk about some of my favorites that I’ve read so far. Typically if I give a book a 5 star rating, it’s added to my ‘favorites’ list in my head. 5 star books are books I typically tend to read and after I read them, I know I’ll pretty much remember their main story line. So let’s just get right into the list of my favorites so far this year!
(1) Legendary (Caraval #2) – Stephanie Garber
Yes, of course we are going to start off this list with one of my favorites! This series is honestly amazing, and even though I’m really not that into fantasy, I definitely don’t mind reading these books at all. Caraval I gave a 4 star rating, but Legendary is 100% a 5 star rating. One of the great instances where the sequel is better than the first book in the series. Can’t wait to get to Finale!
(2) Romanov – Nadine Brandes
Such a great book! I got the chance to read this in January and ugh! It was amazing. This was my first read from Brandes and I fully intend to pick up anything she writes in the future. The writing was amazing, the characters were so empowering, honestly just pick this one up if you guys have the chance. It won’t let you down!
(3) Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone (Harry Potter #1) and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter #3) – J.K. Rowling
I know, kind of crazy I’m just getting around to these but I’m so glad I did! I read the first 4 books so far this year, and I actually plan to read the rest around Christmas time, since I’ve noticed a pattern of celebrating Christmas in almost every book. Book #2 and #4 were good, I gave them 4 stars, but not as amazing as book’s 1&3. Can’t wait to get to rest of the series later this year.
(4) Undead Girl Gang – Lily Anderson
This book was an unexpected love for me. I knew it was going to be good, but wow was I so surprised on how much I really did love it. Again, first time I’ve ever read anything from her, and I’m really glad I did. Zombie type material really doesn’t interest me all that much, but I’m glad it wasn’t as zombified as I thought. Overall, really good and I hope you guys have time to pick this up if you haven’t already.
(5) Daisy Jones & The Six – Taylor Jenkins Reid
Yes! This is probably one of my favorite books OF ALL TIME! I mean this book was absolutely incredible, it took my breath away at how beautiful this was. A must read this 2019!
(6) The Unhoneymooners – Christina Lauren
Last but certainly not least, The Unhoneymooners. This was a book that was so hyped honestly I was a little scared to read it, but after 20 pages, I was in love with it. I mean, I read it in a day, which really says a lot about a book… especially if it’s roughly 400 pages! The writing, the characters, the story, the humor and the love, everything about this book was amazing. I can’t wait to look more into Lauren’s writing and pay attention to her future releases.
