Hey everyone! So a few weeks ago I did a post explaining why I don’t re-read books. You can read that post here, but I wanted to kind of do another post similar to that one where I explain the reason why I don’t really collect different editions of the same book. A LOT of people do this, and that’s fine! But for me it doesn’t interest me to just have the same book in multiple different editions, and here are my reasons why:
- Limited Shelf Space- Currently I have one book shelf with 5 shelves built into it and I’m hoping to soon get my hand on another one but, I just don’t want to waste that shelf space on the same book x amount of times. If I had like 6 or 7 shelves like some people do, sure, I might as well but that’s not the case. That’s why I don’t do it.
- Limited Budget- Another solid and good reason, I simply just don’t have the financial means to want to spend money on multiple versions of the same… exact… book. Especially if some of those editions are like super special. I know some people who will buy a book, then that same book the following year gets released with like a sprayed edges upgrade, and they’ll drop another like $18 for that book…. like, what?? lol.
- Availability- I live in the US, and some of these book covers that I really like are available in the UK, but I will never spend the extra time/money to get them. I honestly just kind of suck it up and I’ll either buy the book that’s here in the US or borrow it from the library. *shrugs*
A few little point’s as to why, not many but definitely enough to where I hope a conversation can start. What do you guys have to say about this little discussion? Are you all for buying multiple editions or no? Why not?
